Ritzy Rescue and Posh Puppy are programs created by LOA Foothill to connect Purebred  or "Designer" dogs with loving families who want to rescue rather than purchase specific breeds. Some of our dogs are the surplus  that is the inevitable result of puppy mills. Puppy mills discard adult dogs when they are no longer useful for breeding purposes and will frequently overextend their operations to the point where they have to get rid of puppies quickly. While we don't condone the puppy mill's operations, we do rescue the dogs that are no longer of any use to them. Ritzy Rescue works to find homes for retired breeders. These dogs have good bloodlines , meet breed standards and would sell for anywhere from $400 to $1500 through the breeders.

Many of our Ritzy dogs have been rescued from 'kill' shelters in this area, some in such poor condition that it takes a very practiced eye to even recognize their breed! These are the true diamonds in the rough. They require a lot of TLC, grooming, behavior work and often medical treatment before they can be adopted into loving homes.

Applicants who meet our strict screening criteria will be able to adopt them for a donation of $200.

Posh Puppy features purebred/designer puppies less than six months of age. They will be available to qualified adopters for a donation of$250.

These dogs are no more worthy than our wonderful mixed breed rescue dogs, but we do recognize the demand for them. The increased donation fees help fund our non-profit, all volunteer rescue group. Our major expenses are food and veterinary care and even with the generosity of the community and the revenues from our standard adoption programs we struggle to make ends meet. This is one breed you need to be familiar with- they are definitely a 'horse of a different color' in the dog world. Aries is a retired show dog. She had been adopted by an elderly woman who is no longer able to care for her. She is in excellent health for her age- her coat is gorgeous and her teeth look terrific. She is only available to be adopted- her foster mom will keep her in a great home until she finds her forever match. Aries is great with other dogs, likes kitties and is very social with people; she is curious and affiliative. Even though she is fine with children- we feel that she would be more comfortable in a less active adult home.
