Shenandoah was scared when the foster mom took her in and as time pasted, she has blossomed and become such a loving companion. Foster mom got her teeth cleaned and a few pulled. Since then she has been a lot happier and eat both dry and moist food and will chew on rawhides. She has also lost some extra weight which has caused a fat cell on her chest. Foster mom asked both a vet and vet tech if there are any problems with this and if it should be removed. Since it is only fat, they said it was not an issue since she was losing weight. Now you can barely tell there was one there as time has gone by.
When foster dad is watching television, she wants to be on his lap with the rest of their personal Dachshund companions. By the time all are on his lap, it becomes a sea of Dachshunds! At night she curls up in her doggy bed in the foster parents room and sleeps. Sometimes she climbs the stairs to the bed and sleep swith them.

Special Needs: While Shenandoah has been on foster care, her caretaker noticed she started coughing. Since there was no other symptoms, she took her to the vet. There they took an x-ray to see what the problem could be. What was found is Shenandoah's heart is enlarged. The vet has placed her on daily medications of Enalapril 2.5 mg and Furosemide 12.5 mg. These medications are not expensive but will need to be part of your decision if you adopted her.
