About Snoopy

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
  • Current Size: 5 Pounds
  • Current Age: 13 Years 5 Months (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes

Little Snoopy was one of three a owner surrendered. We took him to the vet for a general exam with recommendations. His flea issue was addressed. Due to the severity, he was prescribed Prednisone to help his backside heal.

After a few weeks with us, we wanted to see if he was okay for a much needed dental. Yet, we now had to work around three more issues; Seizures, a large soft growth on his lower abdomen and a heart murmur.

When the day finally came for his dental after the health issues were addressed. His foster mom knew that his after-care would be much easier, took him for a spa day. He came home looking so much better.

Snoopy (we also call Pops or Grandpa) made it through the dental and growth removal like a champ. Post-op was about normal time since we were able to have his vet use only what was necessary.

We allowed him time with us to observe what would trigger a seizures so we could find the right family. Since his age was incorrect when surrendered, only an estimation cane be made.

Currently he is on three medications (runs us $30-$45 a month). Foster mom weaned him off the Prednisone. Since he is so small, his medicines are compounded into a liquid for easier administration. His current regiment is 10 am and 10 pm which can be adjusted to fit new families schedule. Just have fun adjusting the 5 pm wet food!

Snoopy would do well with a family who is not so active/busy. Not to say he would enjoy outings depending on where. He tends to have seizures when there are a lot of puppies. Other factor is heat. He can not be left outdoors! Can use a small doggy/cat door so he can do his thing outside. Heck, he may even use a potty pad, it's just foster mom has puppies on free range to train for the doggy door.

Our hope is that a nice kick back family would like to open their hearts and home to this little guy. You will get all the paperwork of his journey with us. He will need to see a vet at least 2 times a year.

While in foster care, he loves to follow the fosters mom and helper around. Sleeps on top of the covers with the male helper. All he just wants to be held and loved.

If you would like to schedule a meet-n-greet, please call or text Laurie at (559) 799-3937. She will work as a liaison between the public and foster homes.

As with any new companion, it is wise to spend good quality time with them and let them explore their new surrounding while you set the boundaries. It is also good to make sure they have a "special" area they can escape to when company comes. This will make both you and your companion have a much better relationship.

Love of Animals will screen potential adoption parents to ensure the companion WILL NOT be a fighting dog.
